A British climber has died after falling 200m (656ft) when he lost his balance in the Austrian Alps, local police said.
The 42-year-old man was walking about 10m ahead of his companion when he fell down a steep boulder-strewn area.
He died on Friday afternoon in the western province of Tyrol. A police helicopter was used to recover his body.
The pair were described by police as inexperienced climbers.
The accident happened when the pair encountered difficult conditions in the area of Durrach. Parts of the path were covered in snow and they had turned back.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed the death of a British national and said it was providing the family with consular assistance. It did not release the name of the dead man.
