2 July 2013 Last updated at 19:05 BST

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an elderly woman and the attempted murder of a boy at a park.

The nine-year-old boy was attacked on Monday at the Carnegie Skate Park in Shipley. He is said to be stable and is expected to undergo surgery later.

Police later found the body of 84-year-old Louisa Denby at her home in Prospect Mount. She had been stabbed to death.

A 26-year-old Shipley man, who police said was related to the woman, is being held in connection with both crimes.

Ed Thomas reports.
