Fair Isle: 'We wouldn't mind the sunshine'

20 July 2013 Last updated at 10:23 BST

Although most of the country has been experiencing sunshine and hot weather in the heatwave, it is not the case everywhere in the UK.

Spare a thought for the residents of Fair Isle, an island north of Scotland, who have been listening to reports about the heat in the UK while there, temperatures are around 14 degrees.

Dave Wheeler, a farmer and photographer and weatherman on Fair Isle, told the Today programme's Sarah Montague he "wouldn't mind the sunshine but I certainly don't want the heat".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Saturday 20 July 2013.
