Coroners in England and Wales to meet new code of standards

25 July 2013 Last updated at 06:53 BST

Coroners in England and Wales will have to meet a new code of standards.

The changes have been designed to reduce delays and inconsistency after complaints that bereaved families in some areas have had to wait years for an inquest.

In future, inquests will have to be completed within six months.

Clive Coleman reports.
