Maureen Greaves, the widow of the murdered church organist Alan Greaves, has revealed that she also went through a street attack just days before the start of the trial.

Maureen was walking down the street when she was attacked by a woman attempting to steal her handbag.

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Phil Williams that the experience helped her to understand her husband's ordeal.

"As she hit me and my glasses came off, I was full of Alan, I was immediately imagining him being hit... Did he have any awareness? Was he frightened? All that was going through my mind."
