Help elderly downsize, says Demos

Up to three and a half million homes could be freed up by people over the age of 60 moving into retirement properties, according to a new report.

The research by think tank Demos, funded by the Home Builders Federation, says there is a big shortage of new properties for older down-sizers, and those needing more care and support.

It says more retirement homes are needed and if built, would help others move up the housing ladder.
