Philpott house demolition starts on Victory Road, Derby

30 September 2013 Last updated at 14:03 BST

A house in Derby, where six children lost their lives in a fire started by the parents, is being demolished.

Mick and Mairead Philpott were jailed in April, alongside their friend Paul Mosley, after they were found guilty of killing 13-year-old Duwayne, Jade, 10, John, nine, Jack, eight, Jesse, six, and Jayden, five.

The removal of the former family home at 18 Victory Road will take around two weeks to complete and will be replaced with more housing.

Claire Brennan reports.
