Police welcome six-year jail terms for Grimsby mosque attackers

Two ex-soldiers who firebombed a Grimsby mosque after the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby have each been jailed for six years.

Gavin Humphries, 37, and Stuart Harness, 33, both of Dixon Avenue, Grimsby, admitted the attack on the Islamic Cultural Centre.

A third man was convicted in November of aiding and abetting arson.

Inspector Mel Christie from Humberside Police welcomed the sentences.

He said the attack would not hinder the ''good work'' between the police and representatives from the mosque to ''bring communities together''.
