What is causing the UK's bad weather?

Heavy storms and gale force winds have continued to affect coastlines around the UK, and forecasters have warned that exposed areas could see a fresh round of flooding.

Hundreds of flood warnings and alerts remain in place.

Science editor David Shukman reports on the factors creating the extreme weather.
