Man arrested for terror offences
A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences.
Northamptonshire Police said the man, from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, was suspected of distributing terrorist documents - contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
The man was detained by plain-clothed police officers from the West Midlands counter terrorism team at 18:30 GMT on Tuesday at his home.
He was released on bail until March, pending further enquiries.
Officers searched the suspect's home and seized some items for forensic analysis, police said.
"The suspected documents are of an ideological nature - not instructional manuals such as bomb making," a spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said.
"We want to reassure the community living in the surrounding area that the arrest was pre-planned, intelligence-led and not made as a result to any immediate threat to public safety," he added.
The spokesman said that officers from Northamptonshire Police had supported West Midlands counter terrorism officers in bringing about the man's arrest.
