Somerset floods: Submerged car and owner reunited

13 March 2014 Last updated at 12:02 GMT

After spending weeks submerged beneath the water, a car that revealed the depth and extent of flooding in Somerset has finally been retrieved by its owner.

Hubert Zajaczkowski, 21, was forced to abandon his vehicle on the road to Muchelney on Christmas Eve.

Since then it has appeared on footage broadcast around the world as boats carrying rescuers and even the Prince of Wales passed the wreck to access the village.

Jon Kay reports as Mr Zajaczkowski examined his sodden vehicle now destined for the scrap yard.
