CCTV of Salford prison van ambush

Footage of an ambush of a police van in Greater Manchester, in which two prisoners escaped, has been released by police.

Ryan MacDonald, 20, and Stevie McMullen, 32, were being taken in the van to separate hearings at Manchester Crown Court, when the prison van was rammed by a car.

They both admitted conspiring to escape from lawful custody. They were also found guilty of conspiracy to possess an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

MacDonald was sentenced to 13 years in prison and McMullen to 13 years in prison.

McMullen was also sentenced to 12 years for conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to commit arson and conspiracy to kidnap.
