Widower spends £1,000 on advert for new wife

A recently widowed man from Lincolnshire has spent almost £1,000 on a newspaper advertisement for a new wife.

Peter Wilson took out the half-page advert in the Boston Target after losing his wife of 23 years to cancer earlier this year.

The 60-year-old said it was what his late wife would have wanted.

Asked why he placed such a large advertisement, Mr Wilson told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "My motto is if you don't ask, you don't get."
