The family of an Asian student who went missing 17 years ago, and was eventually found dead, say they have been told they were spied on by undercover police officers.

It happened as the family of Ricky Reel were campaigning for the police to treat their son's death as murder.

The undercover operation involved the unit known as the SDS which also spied on the parents of the murdered black teenager Stephen Lawrence.

June Kelly reports.
