Royal baby: Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in pictures
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their second child, Kensington Palace has said.
The Queen and members of both families are said to be delighted with the news. The couple already have one child, Prince George, and as with her first pregnancy, the duchess is suffering from acute morning sickness.
Back in December 2012, many people in the UK and around the world were delighted at the news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were expecting their first child.
George Alexander Louis was born on 22 July 2013 at St Mary's Hospital in London, weighing 8lbs 6oz.
The duchess was not seen in public on Monday, the day the news of their second child was announced, but Prince William visited St Hugh's College to formally open the Dickson Poon University of Oxford China Centre, in Oxford.
A few months after he was born, Prince George's parents took him abroad on a three-week visit to New Zealand and Australia in April, for his first official tour.
There were rumours of a second royal pregnancy for the couple during their trip Down Under, but these were quashed when the duchess was seen drinking wine in Queenstown, New Zealand.
The couple were recently seen in public together at the poppy installation at the Tower of London, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War One.
William and Catherine married in April 2011, sparking celebrations across much of the country. More than a million people descended on central London for the occasion.
One of the memorable moments of their wedding day was when Prince William drove his new bride from Buckingham Palace to Clarence House in an Aston Martin DB6 Volante belonging to Prince Charles.
After much anticipation, the couple eventually announced their engagement in November 2010, the prince having proposed while they were on holiday in Kenya the previous month.
The couple first met while studying at the University of St Andrews in Fife. They are seen here on their graduation day in 2005.
