Motorist attacked and robbed in Stafford

Officers are searching for an attacker who forced a driver down a quiet lane before robbing him of his mobile phone.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was flashed by a small black car and pulled into a lay-by in Acton Gate, Stafford, at about 1700 BST on Wednesday.

When he stopped, a passenger in the black car got into the back of his Toyota Avensis and assaulted him.

He was forced to drive to Greymead and then robbed of his car keys and mobile.

The attacker's car, occupied by three men in total, sped off in the direction of the M6, Staffordshire Police said.

White stickers

"Fortunately the victim wasn't seriously injured, but he was left very shaken," a force spokesman said.

The victim, who is from Wednesbury, West Midlands, flagged down help from a passing motorist and was taken by ambulance to hospital.

The offender is described as white, in his mid 20s, of a chubby build, with short or shaven brown or ginger hair. His car had white lettered stickers across the top of the windscreen.

Anyone with information should contact Staffordshire Police or call Crimestoppers anonymously.
