Police investigating a fight in Crawley town centre that left two men with serious head injuries have made a further arrest.

Sussex Police said a 22-year-old from London was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder and one count of assault.

The two men injured during the incident in Queensway on 15 September have since left hospital.

Eight other men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Planned incident

Six suspects have been bailed pending further inquiries and two have been released with no further action to be taken.

Officers were called to an area behind an Argos store after receiving reports of a fight and people being attacked.

Detectives said it appeared to have been a planned incident between people who knew each other, with a large number of people involved.

They said they recovered a number of weapons at the scene including knuckledusters, poles and a machete.
