Former Sussex Police officer jailed for suspect tip-off
A former police officer has been jailed for 14 months for tipping off a suspect about a potential raid.
Grania Hale, 34, of Newbury in Berkshire, admitted a charge of misconduct in public office last month.
Maidstone Crown Court heard she told a suspect that a search warrant was likely to be executed.
Hale resigned from her role with Sussex Police shortly after being charged on 10 August. She had served as a police constable in Haywards Heath.
Det Supt Steve Fowler, of the professional standards department, said the sentence reflected the seriousness of the offence.
He said: "She chose to break the fundamental bond of trust by passing on police information to a suspect.
"In doing so, she let the public, Sussex Police, her colleagues and herself down very badly."
