Flood warnings issued in Shropshire

Four flood warnings have been issued in Shropshire.

Two apply to the Vyrnwy at Maesbrook and Melverley including Melverley Green.

The others are on the Severn at Montford Bridge and Shrawardine and at the Showground and The Quarry, Shrewsbury.

Flood alerts have also been issued for some rivers in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.

Seven people were rescued after flooding in their homes near the Shropshire border, at Four Crosses close to Welshpool.

Alerts apply to the Severn in Worcestershire and Shropshire, Wye in Herefordshire, Lower Dove in Staffordshire from Rocester to Clay Mills and the Severn Vyrnwy Confluence.

A flood warning means flooding is expected and immediate action is required.

A flood alert means flooding is possible and people should be prepared.

The Frankwell and Riverside car parks in Shrewsbury have also been closed.
