Derwentside and Newton Aycliffe businesses pass checks

Only a handful of safety breaches were found during safety checks on factories and businesses in County Durham.

During a week of unannounced visits on 150 premises in Newton Aycliffe and Derwentside, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found just 23 breaches.

These included inadequate training of forklift drivers and machinery which had not been put away safely enough.

The HSE said it was "pleased" so few breaches had been found and that those at fault would be offered advice.
