Smell tip-off leads to County Durham cannabis find
Durham police have made what has been described as one of their "biggest ever" drugs seizures from a house.
More than 400 cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of £68,000, were discovered at a property at Rose Terrace, in the County Durham village of Stanhope.
It followed a tip-off by local people who could smell cannabis.
Officers are appealing for information to help them trace those responsible for growing the plants.
Local neighbourhood sergeant Dave Lyall said: "This is the largest number of drugs I've ever seen in all my 25 years service with the police, and I believe it to be [one of the] biggest ever drugs seizures in Weardale."
