Three forces appoint joint chief officer

One assistant chief constable has been appointed for the Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire police forces.

Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire forces have worked together for some time and the Cambridgeshire force agreed for some units to work together last year.

Asst Ch Con Steve Devine will oversee a number of policing units and departments across the three forces

The aim is to create savings following budget cuts.

His immediate priority will be to establish joint major crime, scientific services, firearms support and professional standards units and departments.
