Murder inquiry after Essex shooting victim dies

A murder investigation has started after a man was shot dead in Essex.

The shooting took place in Park Road, St Osyth, just before 0500 BST on Thursday.

Police said the 42-year-old was taken to Colchester General Hospital where he died of his injuries.

A man was later arrested in Scotland in connection with the shooting. Police are searching a number of addresses in connction with the shooting, including one in Brightlingsea.

A police spokesman said: "A murder inquiry has been launched and is being led by the Kent and Essex serious crime directorate."

The unit targets serious and organised crime in the two counties.
