Volcano ash hits flights between the East and Scotland

The eruption of the Icelandic volcano Grimsvotn has hit flights between the region's airports and Scotland.

Tuesday morning flights between Norwich International Airport and Aberdeen are cancelled, and the Norwich to Edinburgh 0854 BST flight is delayed.

Easyjet has cancelled flights at Luton Airport in Bedfordshire, and Ryanair is not operating flights to Scotland from Stansted Airport in Essex.

The airports advise passengers to check with airlines for latest information.

The Transport Secretary, Philip Hammond, said disruption was inevitable and the situation was being closely monitored.

Ryanair said it objected to a decision by Irish officials to cancel flights from Scotland and wanted the restriction lifted "as a matter or urgency".
