People are being warned to close windows and doors due to a fire at a Suffolk recycling centre.

Firefighters were called at about 1300 BST on Sunday to the fire in a large metal shed on the A1307 at Haverhill.

Crews from Haverhill, Wickhambrook, Bury St Edmunds, Ixworth and Linton in Cambridgeshire have been involved.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said a "copious amount" of black smoke was heading south-west towards Helions Bumpstead in Essex.

"Residents in this vicinity are advised to close all windows and doors," the spokesman said.

Firefighters were attempting to get on to the roof of the building using a turntable ladder.
