Police have released the name of a teenage boy who died after apparently jumping into a reservoir.

The body of Patrick Phillips, 15, from Faifley, West Dunbartonshire, was found in Cochno Loch, near Clydebank, at about 1825 BST on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the scene two hours earlier after he got into difficulties while apparently diving into the water.

Strathclyde Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.

A police spokeswoman said: "At around 1635 hours on Sunday, the 15 year-old got into difficulty whilst diving into the water at Cochno Loch.

"A full search and rescue operation was launched involving Strathclyde Police and Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service.

"A rescue helicopter and the police helicopter also assisted."

Officers have advised people, particularly during the warm weather, not to play or swim in open water where there are no lifeguards present.
