Great Yarmouth and Waveney GP out-of-hours provider chosen
A company has been appointed by the NHS to provide out-of-hours medical care and a call centre for patients in parts of Norfolk and north Suffolk.
South East Health Ltd will offer services in the area covered by NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
It will begin its three-year contract on 30 September.
The NHS said patients can contact the call centre for help, reassurance and advice as well as referrals to the out-of-hours GP service.
South East Health will use GPs from Great Yarmouth and Waveney and all triage will be completed locally, it added.
South East Health already provides out of hours services in Sussex, Kent and Northamptonshire.
Andy Evans, chief executive of HealthEast, which commissions healthcare for the primary care trust, said it would work closely with the company and current provider Harmoni to ensure a seamless transition.
South East Health chief executive Ron Owttrim said it looked forward to offering a locally-based service.
Harmoni took over out-of-hours care in Great Yarmouth and Waveney in March last year after the previous provider, Take Care Now, was criticised over the death of a patient in Cambridgeshire.
