Sussex man faces £236,000 charity fraud charge

A man has been charged with more than 20 counts of fraud in West Sussex and Hampshire, amounting to £236,000.

John Alexander Taylor, 63, of Lordings Road, Billingshurst, is accused of 23 counts of fraud by false representation between May 2009 and February 2011.

The charges follow a Sussex Police investigation into a complaint about non-existent charity ball in Edinburgh in 2010 and donations to charity.

Mr Taylor is due to appear at Crawley Magistrates' Court on 1 September.

The offences are alleged to have been carried out in Horsham and Kingston Gorse, near Littlehampton, in West Sussex, Southampton, Petersfield and Liphook in Hampshire.
