Engineering work affects some holiday rail routes

Rail passengers are being warned of diversions to some Virgin Trains services over the bank holiday weekend.

Engineering work is taking place across the three days, between London Euston and Rugby, Warrington, Wigan and Preston and in the Birmingham area.

Normal weekday services will operate on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon and evening, a spokesman said.

Passengers are advised to check routes with National Rail Enquiries.
