Buckinghamshire sandwich and salads firm sees profits rise

Buckinghamshire-based firm Uniq, which supplies food to Marks and Spencer (M&S), has seen profits rise by 47% to £4.7m in the first half of the year.

Uniq's 1,900 workforce makes sandwiches from a site in Northampton, salads at Spalding and desserts at Evercreech, Somerset and Minsterley in Shropshire.

The company saw its Foods to Go sandwich and salad sales increase by 9%, but dessert sales fell by 8%.

It supplies the Co-op and coffee chain Costa as well as M&S.
