Severn Trent urges customers not to waste water

Severn Trent has urged its customers not to waste water during the recent spell of warm weather.

The East Midlands saw maximum temperatures of 29C (84.2F) on Saturday and Sunday is expected to see highs of 24C (75.2F).

The water firm said it had taken action to conserve water supplies and avoid restrictions on usage in the summer.

However, it has asked people to avoid watering their gardens unnecessarily during the hot weather at the weekend.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: "We do need to look forward to next year and do everything that we can to make sure that we secure supplies for our customers.

"With this in mind, we would just like to ask that people think about their water usage over the weekend and not waste water unnecessarily."
