Shrewsbury climber rescued after 20ft fall in Staffordshire

A Shropshire climber who fell about 20ft (6m) onto rocks in Staffordshire has been rescued.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and ambulance staff were called to help the 28-year-old Shrewsbury man on Hen Cloud in the Roaches, near Leek, on Monday.

Ambulance staff were told the man, who had been climbing with a friend, fell when a climbing peg came out of the rock face.

The man was taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle.

The accident happened at about 16:20 BST on Monday.
