A mental health patient who absconded from a secure hospital in Suffolk may be in the Bristol area, police said.

Luke Sparks, 21, forced his way out of St John's House, in Palgrave, early on Sunday along with two other patients.

Ross Beeby and Jason Williams were later found by police on the A140 in Norfolk.

Officers have information to suggest Mr Sparks, convicted of a serious assault in Somerset in 2008, may be in the Bristol area where he has family.

Members of the public have been advised not to approach Mr Sparks but to call 999 if they see him.

St John's House, near Diss, has 40 beds and deals with patients with mental health problems, disabilities and learning difficulties.

A member of staff received a minor head injury in the breakout.

Mr Sparks has short black hair, is of average size and muscular. He was wearing a grey hooded top, grey shorts and black, grey and white Nike trainers.
