Restrictions at Dartford crossing lifted early

The Dartford crossing's QE2 Bridge reopened two hours earlier than expected after an overnight closure for an abnormal load to cross the Thames.

Restrictions were put in place at 21:00 BST on Saturday and lifted at 03:15.

Southbound traffic was diverted into one bore of the tunnel, with northbound traffic restricted to the other.

The load, an electrical generator, was being transported from Littlebrook power station in Kent to the Tilbury Docks in Essex.
