Music teacher Craig Parkin jailed for sex with pupil
A West Yorkshire teacher has been jailed for four years after having a sexual relationship with a pupil.
Craig Parkin, 26, a music teacher at Woldgate College in Pocklington, East Yorkshire, had a relationship over 18 months starting when the girl was 14.
Parkin pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual activity with a child and two charges of sexual activity whilst in a position of trust.
The victim at Hull Crown Court broke down in tears when Parkin was jailed.
Kissing and cuddling
Prosecutor Richard Woolfall said: "She is still in love with him and still wants to be together with him and wants to wait."
Parkin, from Manor Crescent in Walton, Wakefield, and the teenager started to contact each other via the in-school messaging service, before using Facebook privately.
The court was told that the relationship then moved on to kissing and cuddling before advancing to sexual intercourse when the pupil was 15 years old.
The teacher, who had previously been engaged to a girl with whom he had been in a seven-year relationship, ended that before he began seeing the schoolgirl.
The victim's mother said the teacher had "crossed the line".
