A CCTV image has been released by British Transport Police (BTP) of a man they want to question after a conductor was threatened with a meat cleaver.

The incident happened on the 20:45 BST Leeds-to-London Kings Cross service, on 20 October, after the passenger was asked to show his ticket.

The man became aggressive and took a meat cleaver from the back of his trousers and pointed it at the guard.

It is thought he then left the train at Grantham station, in Lincolnshire.

Det Con Bob Hunt, from British Transport Police, said: "This was a very unpleasant and intimidating experience for the member of staff, who had rightly asked the man for his ticket.

"Nobody should have to encounter threats of this kind for simply doing their job and I am asking anyone with any information that could assist our investigation to come forward."
