Walsall man bailed over two bomb threats

A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of making two separate bomb threats online has been bailed.

He was arrested at his home in Walsall in the West Midlands on Monday over threats to a local temple and a second unspecified target, police said.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man from Rugeley, Staffordshire, was arrested and bailed over a separate online bomb threat to Birmingham Central Mosque.

Detectives said they were not linking the two incidents.

'Nothing untoward'

The force said Birmingham Central Mosque was searched for explosives but "nothing untoward" was found after the threat on Sunday.

It said it did not believe the threat to the city mosque posted on Facebook was linked to any other threats.

Det Insp Nigel Harrison added: "We acknowledge that these threats have caused some members of the public a great deal of concern.

"Our officers have worked to quickly discredit the threats posted online and arrest those believed to be involved.

"I would like to reassure the public that incidents such as these are treated extremely seriously and investigated thoroughly."
