M25 police pursuit victim named as Robert Brown

A motorist who died in a crash on the M25 in Surrey shortly after police tried to stop the vehicle during a pursuit was a 71-year-old Devon man.

Robert Brown was driving a silver BMW which was in a collision with an articulated lorry at 23:55 GMT on Monday near junction 11 for Chertsey.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was uninjured.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said it would not be investigating the incident.

Surrey Police said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

A post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Brown died of head and neck injuries.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.
