Retired West Sussex teacher Bernard Haunch faces sex case trial

A former West Sussex teacher accused of sexual offences against children has had his trial date set by a judge.

Bernard Haunch, 77 and from London, denies 16 offences against pupils, including rape and buggery.

He has admitted two charges of indecency with a child and indecent assault against a nine-year-old boy.

All the offences are alleged to have taken place between June 1975 and September 1983. The trial is due to start on 9 July.

Mr Haunch, of Marlins Close, of Sutton, has been released on conditional bail.

He taught at the now-defunct Fonthill Preparatory School in Coombe Hill Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex.
