Derbyshire firms urged to bid for £17m funds

Businesses in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have been urged to bid for a share of £17.8m government money which aims to bring jobs to the areas.

The D2N2 Growing Places Fund has been set up to kick start projects which might be stalling because of limited space or site constraints.

Individual awards will range from about £500,000 to £2.5m.

They will be used to fund capital projects which will generate economic activity and create jobs.

Councillor Kevin Parkinson, cabinet member for regeneration at the county council, said: "These are challenging economic times and the fund backs our work to help companies overcome obstacles to drive economic growth and bring jobs to the county."

Application forms can be downloaded from the Derbyshire County Council website.

The deadline for applications is 27 April.
