South West Trains delayed after train breaks down

Rail passengers in Hampshire and Dorset have faced major disruption due to a broken down train.

Network Rail said the train at Hinton Admiral led to cancellations and severe delays between Bournemouth and Southampton Central.

The company said engineers were on site, but passengers could face delays of up to two hours.

Only services travelling towards London were delayed - services from London were not affected.

A South West Trains spokesperson said: "We apologise for the disruption that our passengers are facing.

"Our engineers are on site working hard to move the broken down train so we are able to resume full services as quickly as possible."

A bus service had been put in place between Bournemouth and Southampton Central.
