Leanne McNuff death: Soldier Ian Lowe remanded in custody

A 24-year-old soldier charged with murdering his girlfriend has been remanded in custody by magistrates.

L/Cpl Ian Lowe, who serves with the 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, is accused of killing 24-year-old Leanne McNuff.

She was found at her home in Mellor Street, Droylsden, on Sunday. A post-mortem examination found she died of multiple stab wounds.

L/Cpl Lowe is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Friday.

He spoke spoke only to confirm his name and address at the brief hearing at Tameside Magistrates' Court.

In a statement, Ms McNuff's parents Margaret and James said: "Leanne was a beautiful, kind-hearted and generous girl, who lived and breathed for her four-year-old son Jaden, who in turn idolised and adored his mummy.

"Leanne had a great sense of humour, with lovely manners, and was loved by everyone who knew her.
