Rider 'crushed to death by horse'

A woman was crushed to death when the horse she was riding in the dark stumbled and rolled on top of her in Hampshire, an inquest has heard.

Sarah Neal, 35, was riding in Back Lane in Mortimer West End, near Basingstoke, when the accident happened on 17 January, Alton Magistrates Court heard.

Ms Neal, of Ravenswing Park, Aldermaston, Berkshire, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

North Hampshire Coroner Andrew Bradley recorded a verdict of accidental death.

Mr Bradley said: "Sarah Louise Neal was riding a horse at Back Lane in Mortimer West End, in the hours of darkness when it stumbled and fell, rolling on to her causing injury from which she died at the scene."
