New nursing jobs announced for north-east health trust

About 40 nursing jobs could be created by a health trust in the north-east of England, it has been announced.

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust said it planned to invest £800,000 into frontline healthcare.

Ward sisters and community nurse team leaders are also to be given additional training.

The trust's director of nursing Diane Murphy said there was always room for improvement.

She said: "Investing in ward sisters and community nurse team leaders will enable them to concentrate on improving the high quality care we provide to our patients.

"They will achieve this by having more time to manage their staff and patients."

Each ward sister is in charge of a team of around 30 full time staff, caring for approximately 30 patients.
