The funeral of a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan has been held with full military honours in Nottinghamshire.

Guardsman Michael Roland, from 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, had been in Helmand province for three weeks when he was shot while on patrol.

He received treatment at Camp Bastion but died from his injuries.

The 22-year-old father of twins was born in Worthing, West Sussex, but lived in Tollerton, Nottinghamshire, where his funeral took place.

Part of Tollerton Lane was closed for the funeral at St Peter's Church.
