The seven-year-old son of former Ipswich Town, Arsenal and QPR footballer Chris Kiwomya has died.

Lucas Kiwomya, a pupil of Highfields School in Lawford in Essex, was taken to Colchester General Hospital on Wednesday evening after having trouble breathing.

He died shortly after arriving.

A spokesperson for Highfields School said: "We are all devastated. Lucas was a delightful boy, with a ready smile and infectious giggle."

They added: "He loved school and was always keen to do his best. He will be very sadly missed by staff and pupils alike."

Chris Kiwomya is currently the development squad manager at Notts County.
