Four fans charged after clashes at Shrewsbury Town v Walsall match

Four men have been charged after three officers were injured during clashes between football fans in Shropshire, police said.

West Mercia Police said 11 other people were arrested and bailed or released without charge when Shrewsbury Town played Walsall on Sunday.

A spokesperson said the four charged were given football banning orders.

Ch Insp Dave McWilliam said: "A number of people had been intent on causing trouble, some of it pre-planned."

A spokesperson said three police officers had minor injuries while making the arrests.

A 33-year-old man from Walsall, a 17-year-old boy from Walsall and a 46-year-old man from Shrewsbury were each charged with a public order offence.

Another Walsall man, aged 20, has been charged with causing criminal damage.
