Go North East bus drivers call off strike action

A strike by bus drivers across the north-east of England has been called off.

Go North East staff planned to walk out on 15, 18 and 23 March after rejecting a new pay deal.

Union members will now be balloted on a revised deal following talks between the company and the Unite union. The ballot result is expected on 26 March.

Commercial director Martin Harris said the company was "very pleased" the industrial action had been suspended.

Go North East operates services throughout Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Teesside.
