Police warning over heating oil thefts in Devon and Cornwall

Hundreds of litres of heating oil have been stolen from tanks across Devon and Cornwall in the last seven days, police said.

From 8 to 15 March, the force received 14 reports where between 100 and 750 litres of oil had been stolen.

People are being urged to fit good quality locks to tanks, secure gates and consider lighting and CCTV to reduce the risk.

Police said 11 of the 14 thefts were in Cornwall.
