Man appears in court over jogger attack in Chester

A man has been charged with the rape of a woman out jogging in Chester.

The 44-year-old woman was with her dog on 14 June when she was attacked.

Peter Watton, 37, of Lache, Chester, was charged with eight counts of rape. He also faces charges of assault by penetration, kidnap and false imprisonment.

Appearing at Chester Magistrates' Court earlier, Mr Watton was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court at a later date.
